1.The Battleship Island

The Battleship Island is a 2017 South Korean period action fiction film starring Hwang Jung-min, So Ji-sub, Song Joong-ki and Lee Jung-hyun. The film is all about during the Japanese colonial era, roughly 400 Korean people, who were forced into Battleship Island to mine for coal, attempt to escape. This film was directed by Seung-wan Ryoo. The Battleship Island was not filmed on location instead the sets were built in Chuncheon and were designed to resemble the conditions of Hashima Island’s community and mines during the 1940s. Two months after opening in the box office the overall admission was 6.58 million.

2.Confidential Assignment

Confidential Assignment is a 2017 South Korean action film directed by Kim Sung-hoon. The movie became the most viewed Korean movie during the first half of 2017 by attracting 7.8 million audience locally It stars Hyun Bin, Yoo Hae-Jin and Kim Joo-hyuk. The film is about a strict cop from North Korea must team up with a loose cop from South Korea to take down a villain from his own country. The film rose to first place in its second week selling and accumulative 4 million tickets by January 30 and surpassed the 5 million mark two days later.

3.Midnight Runners

Midnight Runners is a 2017 South Korean action comedy film directed by Kim Joo-hwan and starring Park Seo-joon and kang Ha-neul. The story is about two Korean National Police University students, Ki-joon Park Seo-joon and Hee-yeol Kang Ha-neul who accidentally witness a kidnapping and decide to work together to track it down. Midnight Runners marks Park Seo-joon’s first time playing a lead role in a film. According to the Korea Box Office Information System from Korean Film Council, “Midnight Runners” sold over 4 million tickets within 13 days of its premiere.

4.Fabricated City

Fabricated city is a 2017 South Korean action thriller film directed by Park Kwang-hyun and starring Ji Chang-wook, Shim Eun-kyung and Ahn Jae-hong. The film is about a gamer named Kwon yoo Ji Chang wook who is unemployed, but in the virtual world he is a leader, he has been framed by a large corporation for the crime. With the help of fellow gamer Demolition Ahn Jae-hong and hacker Yeo-Wool Shim Eun-Kyung, he sets out to uncover the truth and clear his name. The film topped local box office and surpassed 1 million admissions on its opening weekend.

5.Single Rider

Single Rider is 2017 South Korean mystery drama film starring Lee Byung-hun and Gong Hyo-jin. The film is the directional debut of Lee Joo-young. The plot of this film is, a disgraced businessman who lost everything in his life travels to Australia in the hope of reconnecting with his estranged family, Single Rider have collected total box office up to US$2.4 million.
